Daniel F. Hellmuth, AIA, is a principal and co-founder of Hellmuth + Bicknese Architects, L.L.C. Mr. Hellmuth is a LEED AP and in addition to his experience in Sustainable Design has over 27 years experience in government, housing, educational, historic preservation, transit design and planning projects. Dan was part of the steering committee that established the St. Louis Chapter of the USGBC and served as its first Chair. He has served on the Outreach & Higher Education Advocacy Committee. He is currently heading up the Development Committee of the CWE Midtown Corporation focusing on creating a Sustainable Community Development Code and a Green Streetscape for Euclid Avenue.

His firm has had experience on over 28 LEED projects including NC, C&S, CI, and EB as well as one Living Building Challenge Project that will be a Net Zero Energy, Water and Carbon Building. If it meets the Challenge, it could be the first in the country.

Dan speaks regularly at green building conferences around the country as has helped teach an architecture course at Washington University's School of Architecture on Sustainable Design. He has also taught full day seminars on sustainable design in St. Louis.

He recently completed a 2-day eco-charrette for IU's Greening the Indiana Memorial Union, a 500,000 SF Student Center in Bloomington, Indiana using LEED EBOM certification of its flagship campus icon as the catalyst to implement LEED EBOM on the additional 525 buildings on campus and to coordinate this with the broader Campus Sustainability Initiatives already underway.
